Chimney Crown Repairs

The chimney crown seals off the top of the chimney.

The crown is made of a mixture of sand and cement; a traditional crown is made of concrete (more on that later…)

The crown in this photo is obviously in disrepair. 

This is a traditional chimney crown made of concrete. Note that it extends a few inches past the brickwork on all sides; this creates a “drip-edge.” Rarely do you see a crown of this type in the pacific northwest. Our educated guess is because it costs about 10x more to pour a traditional crown. However, this is a superior crown.
